Workshop Focus Areas
Youth scholarship recipients will play vital roles in ensuring workshop success through support activities.
- Workshop coordination and logistics management
- Facilitation support during sessions

- Creating inclusive environments for attendees
Recipients must attend the workshop they assist with and actively contribute to its success.
Special Recognition: All recipients will be honored at the San Diego Tet Festival.
$2,000 Total Award
Five scholarships of $400 each will be awarded to dedicated youth who assist in developing and delivering VAYA’s mental health workshops.
Ages 15-24
Open to youth passionate about mental health advocacy and community service who want to gain hands-on experience.
Active Participation
Recipients contribute through workshop coordination, facilitation, support, outreach, logistics, and participant engagement.
Application Process & Program Requirements
1) Completed Application Form
Standard scholarship application with personal and academic information.
2) Personal Statement
300-word essay explaining your interest in mental health advocacy and workshop participation.
3) Supporting Documents
Letters of recommendation and documentation of volunteer experience.
4) Mental Health Story
Personal narrative explaining your connection to mental health and passion for promoting awareness.

Mental Health Commitment
Demonstrated commitment to mental health advocacy and wellness initiative in their community
Service Experience
Previous volunteer or community service experience showing dedication to helping others
Learning Mindset
Willingness to learn new skills and contribute meaningfully to workshop success
Reliability
Demonstrated reliability and commitment to peer supporting peer leadership initiatives
Application/Program Timeline
Program Commitments
- Recipients must attend all required meetings and workshops as outlined in their scholarship agreement, demonstrating consistent commitment to the program responsibilities.
- Complete a comprehensive survey evaluating the learning experience and workshop impact to help improve future programming.
- Submit a detailed report to VAYA summarizing workshop outcomes and valuable lessons learned throughout the program experience.
