Eligibility Requirements
Youth ages 15-24 from the San Diego area who demonstrate leadership in school or community activities, or express personal interest in mental health advocacy. All applicants must submit a personal mental health story explaining their connection to this vital cause.

$12,000 Total Award
Three $4,000 scholarships available for exceptional youth leaders ready to make a difference in mental health awareness within the AANHPI community.
Community Impact
Winners will lead workshops at designated VAYA locations including Neighborhood Healthcare and Kaos Athletics, reaching diverse community members.
Professional Mentorship
Selected scholars work directly with IMHA professionals who provide expert guidance on content development and presentation best practices.
Application Process & Program Requirements
1) Submit Complete Application
Include completed application form, 300-word personal statement, supporting documents (recommendation letters, volunteer experience), and detailed workshop proposal outlining topic, learning objectives, and logistics.
2) Share Your Mental Health Story
All applicants must submit a personal mental health story or reflection explaining their connection to mental health advocacy and passion for promoting community awareness.
3) Selection Committee Review
VAYA staff, IVMHA professionals, and community leaders evaluate applications based on creativity, cultural sensitivity, feasibility, and personal connection to mental health advocacy.
4) Workshop Development & Presentation
Winners collaborate with IVMHA professionals to refine their workshops, then present at VAYA community events, engaging both youth and family members in meaningful dialogue.

Program Commitments
- Scholarship recipients must attend all required meetings, demonstrate commitment to their responsibilities, and complete post-event surveys assessing learning experience and workshop impact.
- Scholarship Disbursement: Funds distributed upon successful completion of workshop presentations, ensuring accountability and program success.
- A final comprehensive report will be submitted to VAYA, summarizing youth-led workshop outcomes and valuable lessons learned from this innovative mental health advocacy program.
